I have an interesting story regarding DMSO. DMSO is used in burn centers for the severely burned victims they treat.
Anyway, one night I was cooking stir-fry and the pan started falling off the burner. I instinctively grabbed the pan as it was falling, placing all 4 fingers INSIDE of the lip of the pan and thumb outside. I immediately retracted my hand and stood stunned for a second. I yelled for my wife and she ran in. I told her to grab the DMSO in the cupboard and take the lid off. I stuffed my whole hand in the jar and stood there, stunned. I knew I was in real trouble and would be heading to the E.R. shortly.
Low and behold, I took my hand out of the jar and sheepishly looked down at the damage. Nothing! No blisters, no pain - no sign of anything occuring.
I have since given our grown kids a jar and told them to keep near the stove.
It was very hard to believe.
