Lamictal and other meds can cause the same rash that the new med can, many meds can. It is a rare side effect tho. Since I had to restart Lamictal, I have to raise my dose slowly to prevent that. It is something to watch for, but I would not be overly worried

I would call your pdoc back and take her up on her offer for the stomach medication. That is your best option rather than c'wing around with OTC's that are expensive and may not work as well. I take (prescription) Protonix, which works much better for me than any of the OTC's did (and my copay is super-cheap)...
You were having stomach problems prior to taking Depakote. I remember that pretty clearly
