thing that are talked about in seizure world. But also the aura's you

complex partial seizures. And a few other kind and he used to have
aura's before his seizures a lot of the time. He also has migraines,
so does all my family. Me included.

Some of the things you write about sound a lot like complex partial
seizures, which usually means you go into a altered state and don't
realize you are doing the things you are doing. In my son's case
as a child or teen. He could carry on a full conversation, and even
do things that were like he was with me completely.
The only way I knew he had no idea he was doing these things. Was
that he would then say 30 minutes later. Make a statement that would
show me he had no idea he had done something.

Like one day he had been at a soccer game, he had a seizure, we went to taco bell, and behind us in came a coach, and his son. My son and the coaches son carried on a conversation. Got a drink and all. Then about
30 minutes maybe later. He went up to get a drink, and the coaches son who was sitting in the back section. Came up and got a drink, I heard him say, He when did you get here. And they carried on a conversation.
The coaches son, looked at me, and I just shook my head and showed I heard the conversation, Derrick came back to the table. And said, I am guessing I had already talked to him. I said, yes but guessing you dont remember. No mom, I don't remember at all. I said, his dad is here too.

Derrick has tried about every medication, His VNS is what has worked the
best. He is getting ready for his to be replaced for the 3rd time on Wednesday.

Hi Donna ~ I typed a message to you but it never made it to the group in response to what you mentioned.

Thank you for sharing with me what your son experiences are and giving me examples. I find it interesting that he can go thru a normal conversation and yet not remember it, sounds all too familiar.

He's very lucky that his VNS is helping him, where no medication did. He's also lucky to have you on his side and getting the best of care. How old is he? Best of luck to you on Wednesday, hoping the procedure goes smoothly. How often does he need his VNS replaced?

I explored the visual changes and perceptions with you but not the physical symptoms that I am not sure if these are auras or not. I'll share just a few with you and see what you think: sudden jerking of my right arm several times in a row, smelling wires burning when there are none, sudden tingling in my right hand as if I stuck my finger in an electrical socket, sudden confusion - not recognizing anything at all, vibrations in my head that are so intense I have to stop and wait until it stops, sudden urination where I cannot make it to the bathroom, sudden weakness and feeling suddenly faint, sudden rigid muscles, loosing significant time. Take yesterday... while watching TV I lost 2 hours and do not remember what the show was all about. Or when I opened Quicken on my computer and saw entries there that I don't remember putting them in. Oh, one such thing that scared me was that a neighbor said she saw me in a community meeting that I know I was not there. I asked her if I participated, she said no, but I sat there motionless and did not respond to her when she waived at me. Or people come up to me that look very familiar but cannot place them, but they say they know me very well. It's like I live an altered life that I have no clue about. How could I sit thru a two hour community meeting and not remember I was there?

Well, that's enough information, don't want to overload the thread. Thank you Donna for reaching out to me. My headache doctor told me about a new seizure specialist they just hired. When I get Medicaid straightened out, I'll go in to see him.

((( appreciation hugs )))
