hi hermom

yes, I agree that the first thing to check is an eye infection

a number of things could be causing the eye redness etc

if she is having eye tics, and/or possibly eye rubbing tics (my son had that once) then that could be the cause

also, she may be reacting to airborne allergens (dustmite, animal dander, pollens etc) I get red eyes from dustmite and dryer lint

and
as it is summer..........if she is doing a lot of swimming, the chlorine may be the culprit

if it continues tho I would definitely have it checked by a pro
