if you like the team involved with your mother's surgery and the neurosurgeon has a good reputation then for me at least there's not a lot you need to ask and how many surgeries the surgeon has done in the last 90 days. if you haven't checked what mfg's equipment they use i would ask that. you should receive a detailed plan for getting prepared for the surgery and the followup programming, who will do the programming and maybe ask if you can meet him/her.. i was approved for dbs but backed out because i didn't have a support group of friends and family and was worried about obamacare being terminated, trump had just been elected. i woefully regret that, a lot of effort went into getting me approved and my neurologist stuck his neck out recommending me for dbs. imho, consider your mother one of the lucky ones if she has been approved.
