Default Alan has passed away

Hi all.

It's been a very rough 4 days. Alan passed away on July 4th. He had been in the nursing home since January, when I couldn't take care of him anymore because I was operated on. We were in the same nursing home. I left mid February after I completed rehab on my broken right hip. He stayed because I could no longer be his caregiver. As I was recuperating at home, the virus hit and the nursing home went on lock down. I was on lock down at home with an aide. I called him a few times a day. He had dementia, besides his neuropathy and other things. He also had Covid 19 when he was in the nursing home. A majority of the residents and staff got it too.

For four months I could not see him. His dementia got worse because (I believe) of the social isolation. He was back and forth in various hospitals because of his many health issues. Then in June (he was losing weight anyway), his weight really plummeted and they put in a feeding tube. I thought we would see a miracle but that was not to be. He was put on hospice and I was allowed to see him. I went every day for the three weeks he was on hospice. He recognized me in the beginning but at the end he did not know me at all and was on morphine. He passed uneventfully and thank God he is now at peace. He had a jewish burial. three days after he left us.

I still have my bad days. It's all too recent. I have my own stuff going on but I know he is at peace. I just wanted to share.

Love to you all

Melody
