I hate to say this, but your daughter sounds like my oldest son, Chris. He, too, showed no sympathy towards others, was very demanding, and highly intelligent (to the point he looked down upon others). He received a full presidential scholarship to San Francisco State.

I did my best for many years to help him, took him to many dr.s too, but none of it seemed to help much. I think he mainly learned how to hide it from people. He's borderline sociopathic. It scares me, especially now that he lives far away and I am not around to try and help him maintain control.

So you have my prayers and my hugs Having a psychologically damaged child is heartbreaking. But quit with the guilt!! If she does have some sort of sociopathy, she was born that way. Her brain is wired differently, that has been proven. All we can do is be there for them, love them (even though it's hard at times), help them through the rough times, and be hard on them when they need that, too.

Wow. I have never told anyone here at NT about Chris. This will come as a big shock to them. But I felt I had to come forward, because if this is what is going on with your daughter, it's vital that you find out right away.
