The diagnosis should not be complicated, just an MRI to rule out the spine and an ultrasound guided diagnostic injection of bupivicaine without steroid around the LFCN (MP nerve) to see if it gives you temporary relief . If its damaged, the only treatment likely to work is disconnecting the nerve (neurectomy)
