Welcome, Damo72!

If I read your post correctly, you must have been drinking since the age of about 11? People do stop drinking, even binge drinkers and drinkers who have had a problem for decades. It can be done.

I've known a few alcoholics and have a bit of knowledge of AA. AA is still in operation and works for many people--though I've known a few people who just dislike its approach. You do have to admit that you're an alcoholic --and that you will always be an alcoholic. Your body simply can't tolerate alcohol, and it's a condition you need to accept--but it sounds as if you're on your way to recovery and doing well at it.

You're to be congratulated. It's a very tough battle. You'll have a healthier life without the drinking. That's worth a lot.
