Default type 2 trigeminal neuralgia - management?

I've got the constant type of trigeminal neuralgia all across the left side of my head (all three nerves), feels like I've been gently kicked in the head and eye socket, sigh.

(and this is on top of having migraines and hemicrania)

I was wondering if anyone knew whether the treatment/management of TN2 is different from those for the more usual one?

weirdly, here in the UK the NHS doesn't seem to acknowledge that there is a type 2, so I don't know how they'll respond when I try to see the neurologist again
