My husband Kevin was diagnosed in 2000 at 52. He had DBS in February of this year. To make a long story short - he is now on 1/2 the meds he took before DBS. His neuro recently eliminated Requip (HOORAY!!) and put him on the patch - so far it's been great! No ill effects - we rotate the patch site daily. It's just one less pill at every dose and does not have the awful side effects of Requip. Nearly all the parkies we know are being taken off Requip due to side effects. I realize Neupro is still a dopamine agonist but it seems less detrimental for some reason.
I was surprised when it was prescribed because I thought it was for the "newly diagnosed".
