Cool

Feeding tubes are such an important intervention for patients suffering with ALS/ Motor Neuron Disease. However, lack of information and sometimes out of fear, patients who can benefit from a feeding tube (PEG) often delay making this decision until a crisis occurs.

Simplified Training is offering a home healthcare DVD for patients and families faced with making the feeding tube decision. Nutritional Lifeline: The Feeding Tube Decision will
help them understand the procedure and see how to use and care for the tube at home. Most important, they will hear real people, who have feeding tubes, talk about how they made the decision and how having a PEG has improved both their lives and those of their loved ones. The 30-minute video is menu-driven and divided into four chapters: Decision Making, Tube Insertion Process, Using the Feeding Tube and Caring for the Feeding Tube.

A team of experienced nurses and a leading gastroenterologist created the materials.
The content is targeted to the patient, family and caregivers in plain language that is reinforced throughout by demonstrations that are easy to follow.

Nurses and physicians have commented that this is "just what patients need to see" in order to make a more timely decision. A 3 minute sample can be viewed under Home Health Care at http://www.simplifiedtraining.com/

A number of units have been shipped overseas to the UK and Denmark as it is listed on the ALSMND Alliance site. http://www.alsmndallia...(cropped) It is also available on The ALS Society of Canada website.

I hope you will pass the information on about both versions of the video. Adults patients dealing with Cancer or Stroke and the ALS version. A pediatric version will be released this fall. http://www.simplifiedtraining.com
