On a sad note: The first friend that I knew had MS went into a wheelchair a few weeks before I was diagnosed in 1994. He became bedbound 2 years ago. Avonex was the only therapy his neuro would prescribe for him. Swallowing difficulties led to a feeding tube. Incontinence led to a suprapubic cath. He died yesterday in his mid 60's.
I am so sorry to hear that Cherie: Please accept my sympathy. Why was avonex the sole drug he was allowed?
