Hello all -

This sure looks like a great forum. I found it thanks to a friend with Parkinsons - I wonder what took me so long? Finally a place where people have more weird and rare conditions than me!

I was diagnosed with transverse myelitis in March of 2006. At first it was assumed that I probably had MS and that this was the first manifestation of it. After 4-5 months of tests, exams and second opinions, we determined that it was actually more likely caused by either or both of two autoimmune antibodies which I was found to have.

So I'm sort of a hybrid between the neuro and the rheumatology departments. Makes it hard to get coordinated care sometimes, but I keep at it! I'm very insistent and proactive about my health care.

I battle neuropathic pain, fatigue and other funky disestheysias, but don't have any functional impairments, and have continued to work full time and try to do most of the other things I always used to do - if on a reduced scale. I love the outdoors, travel, and my Great Pyreneese puppy Milo.

I guess that's a long enough intro for now!
