WALK TO D'FEET ALS SET FOR SUNDAY
The annual Walk to D'Feet ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) is set for 11 a.m. Sunday at Winton Woods Metro Park.
The event is sponsored by the ALS Association Central Southern Ohio Chapter.
The association is encouraging teams of walkers or individuals to sign up for the cause.
Honey Baked Ham stores in Cincinnati are selling "feet" to retail customers. By donating a minimum of $1, customers sign a paper "foot" that will be placed in the store's lobby. All proceeds from "feet" sales will go to the ALS Association.
Teams, friends and family are raising money and walking in memory of Honey Baked Ham's founder, Harry J. Hoenselaar, who lost his battle with ALS in 1974.
The company also is donating $5,000 to the walk.
Money raised from the walk and the "feet" sale will benefit cutting-edge research, patient education programs, support groups, equipment loan programs, referrals to ALS clinics and physicians, and the local and nationally directed advocacy program.
