Mrs D,
My
casein problem is additive. I can have pizza, but if I have pizza & ice cream, then the next day have cheese & crackers and maybe a gelato, then the next have something else dairy- it hits me.
I can tolerate a little,
(non-dairy creamer in my daily a.m. coffee)
but add more and more for a couple of days and I feel as if I've got
the flu with throat constriction.
(Try to find a loaf of bread w/o sodium caseinate - many things have it, not just milk products- even "free" from milk products -like non-dairy coffee creamers)
I've lived with it all my life, my oldest son
(age 38) has it too.
He can't tolerate dairy, at all - since infancy.
He was raised on soy formula
'Similac Isomil".
Its not the lactose, its the base, the
casein.
My other 2 kids have it also, in milder forms.
