Default On getting what you ask for

In church yesterday something my pastor said really hit home. He said that if you ask God for something and he gives it to you, why look at what your neighbor has and complain that you do not have as much as they were given? You prayed, and after all God did answer you providing your needs and giving you exactly as you prayed. Why covet what your neighbor was given?

This really hit home with me, because I prayed many years ago for all of the wonderful things God has given to me mainly, my children and husband. Why, should I feel sorry for myself because, I happen to have a child with a mental disorder? Many people have so much more on their plates. I am now thanking God for the words he put in my pastor's mouth yesterday. He spoke to me. And, I am grateful for what he did give me. I know there is a reason my son has this disorder. It is hard not to question it though. But, part of being a christian is thanking God even for the trials. Because, there is always something to be gained from each experience we go through.
