Can you look at it as rotten problem solved? You have suffered so much with it and it didn't want to heal by itself. I had it but after a year it healed by itself. I couldn't do any lifting and I am certain that your taking care of your mother and all the housework has been so hard on your body.
Can you speak to a social worker and see if there is a way they can provide transport? I know money is tight and I don't know how much a cab would cost. You might also want to call medicare and see if they can suggest something.
With all the great pain killers they have, hopefully you will be pain free after the surgery. I would have that on top priority and tell them you are bipolar and pts and you can't tolerate pain...that it throws you into another cycle.
I wonder if you can get more help for your mother.
Hugs
Bobby
