-though I'd recommend they extend it a few more hours, with measurement, concurrently, of your insulin levels as well as glucose. This is because it is now well-documented that impaired glucose metabolism can result in neuropathy, especially of the smaller fibers that subsume the sensations of pain and temeprature, well before frank diabetes would be diagnosed.

Moreover, you sound like could very possibly have a small-fiber neuropathy--and these are often very hard to discover with "standard" testing, but the symptoms--sensory and/or autonomic--can be severe.
