I like my White sewing machine but it's heavy with lots of metal gears vs the newer ones with more plastic - bought it used 30 years ago - Oh i feel so old typing that! where did all those yrs go???

Do you have Sewing machine or Vacuum repair /used shops in your area?
usually they have them out & set up so you can test drive them, so to speak.
I also bought a sewing machine at a thrift store that I liked - but it had more plastic parts and eventually broke, but it was only 20.00 and lasted 10 yrs - it was a singer with 30 different stitches/designs

Or around here many Sewing machine or material/craft type stores have the machines out for testing so you can find the one that is best for you.
