I get migraines too: my bi-weekly ivig brings them on as well as weather. I was on topamax 100mg daily but Dr. Drachman told me to stop taking the 'dopamax'. It was making me too tired during the day.

He also switched me from trazodone to elavil as my bedtime sedative/headache prophylactic, however, elavil and I do not agree.... My blood pressure spiked, I tossed and turned at night instead of a restful, uniterrupted sleep a la trazodone AND it made me eat everything in sight!! I gained too much weight in too short of time with the elavil.

I no longer take the elavil. I'm back to a lower dose of trazodone (25mg). I have been feeling more energetic since stopping the topamax. For the migraines, I either take Amerge or Tylenol 3s.
