Lightbulb Mel,

Muscle spasms are very common. I personally don't think your PN is the cause.

Low magnesium status is common in 70% of the American public.

You can help it by soaking in epsom salts. About 4 oz to a bath tub...it will help.
The ache is often a sign of severe muscle pull when cramps are severe.

Diabetics lose magnesium thru the urine daily. Some drugs increase magnesium loss, like caffeine, diuretics, alcohol.

I hope you didn't buy magnesium oxide...it is next to useless. I think if you improve your magnesium intake you will also find it easier to sleep. It will in general relax you which I think you will enjoy.
