while i am not a heart patient i have a family friend who is one and he had a patient with addiction issues who refused pain meds, they finally decided to do a local for an epideral. the problem is just like with most invasive procedures causing pain is not an acceptable trade off.
your doc may have been the head of the department but the reality is those positions are as much a popularity contest as anything. i would report him to the state board for several reasons...1st his actions during your procedure ignoring a preexisting condition simply to make the procedure easier for him is unnacceptable...2nd if he is unaware of an accepted dx across the field of medicine he is incompetent...3rd the fact that he caused such serious damage (a lack of a radial plus is a significant problem)...and 4th to show such arrogance to actually write that he didnt belive the dx and further to state that he believed you had mental issues is slander.
i am so sorry you had to go through that experience and continue to struggle from the damage caused. i didnt realize that medical degrees were available in cracker jack boxes...how wrong i was.
