Oh, guess what we did this morning. I took a plain magnetic insert and cut a whole where Alan's foot ulcer is. Then he put bacitracin (it's healing nicely, but this doesn't mean anything, it ALWAYS heals nicely until he puts pressure on it). So while we are waiting for his re-fixed orthotics to come, I figured, why not turn his Cam Walker or Slipper or whatever he is wearing, well, why not turn it into an OFT LOADING THIGAMAJIG, right??
So I knew exactly where to make the hole in the magnetic insert thingee.
Alan put some bacitracin, a little bandaid over it. Then his sock. Then we put the insert into his slipper. He's doing just fine.
If he has to go out, he'll put the magnetic hole thingee into his Cam Walker which will then allow his ulcer to roam free and not have any pressure whatsoever. At least, that's the plan.
He goes to the podiatrist next week.
He hasn't bled all day. So we shall see.
Oh the stuff we have to invent when no one else does!!!!
lol, Melody
UPDATE........ he just told me, this thing is not working, so I just pulled the slipper off, pulled the sock off, then I put the insert (with the hole), right over his bandaged area. So I then put his sock OVER THE FOOT INSERT. Then he put it back into the slipper. He said "oh, this is better. So try and picture this. Alan is wearing a foot insert INSIDE HIS SOCK and this insert has a hole in it, so his ulcer (which only has a small bandaid on it because it looks perfect fine), is able to roam free.
We shall see.
