Post both have the same ingredients...

only in a different ratio.

Norco is typically the lowest in acetaminophen (Tylenol) content.

Both come in different strengths..
Vicodin == 5mg/7.5mg/10mg (active hydrocodone portion)
5mg/500 acetaminophen
7.5mg/ 750 acetaminophen
10mg/660 acetaminophen

Norco == 7.5/10mg (hydrocodone) to 325 acetaminophen

Then there is Lortab... similar as well. And others.

Norco is typically given when less acetaminophen is required. The latter tends to be liver toxic in high doses.
