You are wise to take the B12 situation seriously. That MMA test should be done immediately, along with a homocysteine. And if I were you I would start taking at least 1000 mcg B12 orally per day right after the lab samples are drawn.
I would not wait around. Damage can become serious and permanent while waiting. Even though those tests are much better than B12 alone, they also miss some cases, and with your level falling and especially suspicious the important thing is to get safe B12 into you.
