COPENHAGEN (Thomson Financial) - Danish pharmaceutical company Neurosearch AS said it has initiated phase I clinical studies of the drug candidate ACR343 with a view to develop it as a new treatment for Parkinson's disease.

'This achievement further highlights the very satisfactory...development seen in the pipeline programmes we took over with the acquisition of Carlsson Research (now Neurosearch Sweden) in October 2006,' Neurosearch chief executive Flemming Pedersen said.

As an effect of the study initiation, Neurosearch will make a 75 mln skr milestone payment to the former shareholders of Carlsson Research AB, the company said.

Neurosearch reiterated its previous financial guidance for 2007 of a 230-250 mln dkr loss before recognition of associates and other equity interests.
