Oh I was explaining to my daughter what a 'party line' was back in the early days. We still had them here in the late 70's. "Party" didn't mean the same thing to her as to me....LOL. She was flabbergasted that we had 'party lines or private lines' for our phones. Until the early 90's we could get away with only dialing the last four digits of our numbers provided we called in the same exchange...
