is called achlorhydria. It occurs fairly often as we age.. about 30% of older people may develop this.
It not only affects iron absorption. Zinc, B12, folic acid and calcium are
affected by low acid. Calcium is related to RDS. But I don't recall reading about low iron and RDS specifically.
Certainly low iron impacts the whole body in many ways.
And chronic use of acid lowering drugs will make low acid situations more
common than already occur.
