Best Way to teach Children is First Hand
Hi Carolyn,
For about 8 years I worked as a volunteer in the St. Paul Public School system as my husband is a band teacher there. I would help the woodwind players with fingerings, check instruments, give private lessons to the ones who were having problems keeping up, etc. A few of the children showed fear of my shaking, but after I explained to them that I had Parkinson's disease, and after I demonstrated my playing, the fear went away and we could focus on our common love of music.
One of the best ways to inform the public at large is to just get out there and volunteer in your community and let them see your gifts so they realize they have things in common with you.
Love,
Vicky
