Hi Cazzie,
What you are describing sounds like it may be a myoclonic sz. This has happened to me a couple of times when I'm in bed or not to long after I get up in the morning. My upper body especially my arms begin to shaking and move around and I have muscle spasms around my mouth but I'm totally conscious and aware of what's going on I just can't control my jerking and it lasts for about 2 min. at the longest. I have found out that this type of sz. can relate to tonic clonic, complex partial and absence sz. that a person has. This has only happened to me twice in the 35 yrs. I've had sz. but it's very wierd. You may want to have your neuro do a blood test to check your drug levels and possibly have an e.e.g. done to see if there are any changes. Also take note if this happens when your hormones are changing or if there's a low pressure in the weather. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!
