Default Hi To All Newbe To NT I have Diabetic

Neuropathy in my feet way bad. I am still in the process of trying to get my diabetes under control. I am doing much better in the last month. My BG numbers were in the 300-400's and now are in the mid 100' to med 200's. I have been a diabetic for 8yrs. now, and never have taken it way serious. Pretty silly huh. I am married to a great guy for the past 19yrs, who is also type 2 diabetic, I have 3 children, a daughter who is 28, she is married, and has given me two beautiful grandchildren, a daughter who is 7, going on 8 next month, and a boy who is 3. I also have a 23yr. old son who is just terrific, and a wonderful 13yr. old son, who lives at home with us. I just need to mention that we also have a 1yr. old Shih Tzu dog, who is so much a part of this family. He is my little baby. Glad to be here don't know much about this board since it is the very first time I have posted here.
I would so much like to know if anyone else has diabetic neuropathy in their feet. My toes are numb, yet I get shooting pains in them a lot, every day, actually, especially noticable when I lay down to go to bed. My biggest complaint that I have with the neuropathy is the pad/souls of my feet feel like they have tiny paper cuts all over them, which they don't, I have checked, they just burn like crazy all the time, making it difficult to enjoy going for walks and is just really a painful thing. The arch of my feet feel just weird, and also get shooting pains, but not as bad as my toes, and top of my feet. My Dr. told me that it would take up to 6mos. after getting my blood sugars under control, before I would know what permanent damage I have actually caused to my feet. I am on 2400mgs. of Neurotin, and have been for quite a few years, it is not helping. I also take Neurotin not just for the neuropathy, but for a mood stablizer as well. I have heard about Lyricia(sp) and here that some people say it helps a lot with foot neuropathy. But don't know if I can take Lyricia, with the Neurotin I take. I am just really desperate for some relief from the pain that I have in the pads/souls of my feet. If anyone has any suggestion it would so be appreicited. Thanks hope I am in the right spot. I have to learn this board. Take care to all of you, and hope you have a great day.
