RAHWAY — AN EMERGENCY ROOM visit is stressful, but it's even more stressful for someone with Parkinson's disease. Aggravated symptoms due to medication delays and misinterpretation of normal Parkinson's symptoms are just some of the issues a Parkinson's patient faces while waiting for treatment.

A program addressing these issues, offering ways to make an ER visit less stressful for patients and their caregivers, will be held Feb. 13 at 1 p.m. at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway in conference room 3.

The featured speaker is Dr. Alan S. Miller, medical director of the Emergency Department at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway [New Jersey]. Miller will also cover what the Parkinson's patient needs to tell doctors and nurses caring for them.

The program is sponsored by the hospital's Parkinson's Support Group as part of its monthly meeting. Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of every month and are open to the public. For more information call (908) 272-2362.
