Can you fill the man’s shoes?
That’s the question they ask.
Are you up to his stature?
Can you take on his task?
Does it really matter
If you can stand tall
Or even whether
You can walk at all?
Does it only take a mile
To know what it’s like
To have been that man
And lived his life?
The question I ask,
Can you fill the man’s hat?
For it’s what’s underneath
That’s where his life’s at.
It doesn’t matter much
Wet shoes or dry,
Will you fill the man’s hat?
Will you give it a try?
