Hmmmm.. Well, moderators here at BT2 DO make their decisions in private - after they consult on issues and have a chance to comment and cobble out how to handle a particular decisino. Thus, we don't have any conceivable or factual basis to say that any particular decision "belongs" to JUST this mod or that mod.
However, at BT1, ALL of the mods are full members, well known and chosen by JL after knowing them for a considerable time. We have no idea of what cliques they belong to, who they number among their friends and who they may be prejudiced against.
Anonymous mods are not machines, not robots or computers - they are only fallible humans. HOWEVER, being anonymous, having "names" that render them devoid of any personalitzation, no hint of their alternate life as regular members of BT, makes US, the membership at large, see them as being "different than the rest of us"
I think this system works well since I have seen innumberable long-lasting stable communities have the same moderator set-up. I have also seen the shortcomings of the other type of system.
