Yep. I love it! And I have even made it. When I was growing up we always had it with baked beans. I thought it was a New England Yankee thing.

It's not fruitcake. It's a baking soda bread with raisens and molasses and corn meal and rye flour along with regular flour (though whole wheat flour is even better). And what is really distinctive about it is that it is a steamed bread, not a baked bread.

This is a link to a traditional recipe. It's a very simple old fashioned kind of bread. I think I need to make some this weekend though nobody in my family likes baked beans. Don't know what's up with that?
