Grin One mans trash is another mans Treasure

My daughter and I often took trips to the Humane society to see the dogs.
This is where she adopted her deaf dalmation. One of those days we thought
we would check out the Dog pound. This is where they take strays off the street and after a few days, some of them are euthenised and a select few, are taken to the Humane society.
I was looking through the pens, when one of the dogs turned his head and looked at me. He had big brown eyes outlined with black. His eyes were so soft and so sad. He was also very sick, couldn't stand up, and was vomiting. I asked the animal control officer what his story was. The dogs all have a story although
some of them we wish we didn't know. She told me that he was living on the street and a little old lady said he was eating the catfood that she was putting out for the neighborhood cats. Everytime she saw him, he looked worse and
worse, so she called animal control. I was so taken by this dog and I knew we couldn't leave him there on that cold cement slab.Since he was so very sick, she said if we wanted him, she would waive the fee of thirty five dollars. I was glad because I had about four dollars in my pocket.
My daughter carried him out to the car,as there was no way he could walk.
I gave him a name "Treasure". One mans trash is another mans treasure.
We took him right to our Vet. He was dipped for all the fleas on his body.
He was examined and a blood test taken. He had mites in his ears, and he did have an infection in his blood. You could see his back bone sticking out as he
was very malnurished. He also had worms.
The first three months were the hardest.A little food at a time and medicine
for everything. He started to put weight on, wagging his tail and licking our hands in gradatude. He looked like a small Golden retriever but his face was a little like a chow. His tongue was dark like a chow but he looked more like the golden with beautiful reddish blonde hair.
With patience and good care Treasure began to bond with us. It seemed like it would never happen but eventually it finally did.
Treasure is our second dog as we already had a n Australian shepard mix. They were both about ten months old and when Tres improved in body and spirit, the two became fast friends.
Today Tres is about six years old just like our other dog Apolo. He is happy, healthy and now he has people in his life that love him dearly, for the rest of his life. (to this day Tres will not touch catfood)
Truely a believer,
