Ali-
My leg pain can go up and down for no apparent reason at all sometimes. But then sometimes there are some kind of hidden reasons. Cold rainy weather makes my pain a lot worse than normal. A heat pad can sometimes be your best friend! When I was younger I used to get a lot of ingrown toenails (I actually had to have a little surgery on my toenail once) and they would quite often get infected. The first thing is to leave them alone and let grow out to prevent infection. The other thing that my doctor would have me do, infection or not, was to soak my foot in a warm bath of epsom salts twice a day. After the bath, I would dry my foot and apply Neosporin to the area. This would help to prevent or heal whatever infection was present. This routine really helped, and I would really give it a try. The epsom salts will help with the swelling from the RSD too. Hope this helps Ali.
