--though you didn't mention what units the measurement was in (ng/Dl, I'm assuming).

A lot of researchers now think our Vitamin D lab reference ranges are skewed too low, and that people should opt for ranges in the 75-80ng/Dl level at least. Ted Hutchinson on the Braintalk Vitamin forum has ammassed a huge database on Vitamin D with a lot of supporting evidence (studies, monographs, etc.) to this effect, if you want to take a look:
