gluten sensitivity in an infant?
WEll actually she is 16 months old now.
My girl friends daughter has been having loose stools for the past 4 months.
She ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago dehydrated.
They did biopsies of her stomach and intestines and food allergy testing...and put her on a strict diet until they got back the results....all the results came back negative and they are slowly adding back in all of the food groups that were restricted. 1st soy then milk then wheat. 3 days on each food item.
So far her stools have been ok.
Her doctor thinks that she may have had a reaction from her MMRP vaccinations at 1 year old. and then got a virus that wiped out her GI tract and it has taken months to get back to "normal"
what do you guys think of this?
I can ask her specifics about the tests that were done...I know that i have tried to read abit here and it is overwhelming!
I also remember reading somewhere that it is very hard to diagnose celiac.
