As far as going into no dog's allowed areas, no they can't, as of yet.


I would say, there is a reason for that. Service dogs are trained specifically to deal with about anything that can come up in all those public settings. I can't believe how well they behave... amazing.

I would like to see anyone who needs a dog (or any service animal) for any reason have one that is trained and certified in such a way that it can go anywhere.

It may not need the kind of training a regular service dog needs, but certainly more than my dogs have. They're fine for comfort, and obedience trained, but not ready for prime time.

Some kind of in between trianing and licensing would help the cause. The public and businesses alike would grow accustumed to dealing with these animals and not worry that an accident would happen. They's understand that these are not just somebody's flea bitten mutts, they are on the job and know what they're doing.

They are not going to foul the floor, bite the customers, knock down little kids by jumping on them, etc. They'll be perfect ladies and gentlemen.

Just like we want to know that the drivers on the roads have a license, that they've been trained and tested and certified as capable, people want to know the same about animals inside their businesses, on their bus, and next to them at the restaurant.

I think that's fair. I know dogs I'd share a bus seat with, and others make me nervous just living down the street - you've met those kind too, and I'm sure you too would prefer not to have them allowed everywhere you go.


I'm just not ready to sit next to Khaluha the 140lb 9 mo old Rotty at lunch, while she chews on a lawn mower tire and growls at every passing thing.
