I don't know that drug Erin, but I was interested (and empathetic) to hear you have similar optic nerve pain to what I endure! I checked the Australian drug sites but couldn't find anything similar, although I assure you I'd like to. As you in in particular would know , this eye pain can be like having a stabbing tooth-ache in an eye.....definitely not nice!

Midrin is also called Migrin-A-Capsules. It's also called Isometh/APAP/Dichlor Capsules.

One of the ingredients is Tylenol (Acetaminophen)
I'm not exactly what ingredient is the one that seems to work on the ON pain. I was really surprised that it worked. The optho wasnt sure it would work on the pain, but he suggested that I try it anyways, since the first time I had ON, nothing at all touched the pain, and what they did give me made me sick. He didnt want to Rx something that would just make me sick. I already had the Midrin Rx-ed to me by the neuro, so I tried it.
I dont know if it'll work the next time I have ON (there better not be a next time!) but I'll try it again. I dont know if the fact that my ON was relatively mild this time compared to the first time had anything to do with it.
It does work extremely well on migraines...at least mine.
It can be habit forming (I dont think I have a habit, it takes me about 5 or 6 months to get thru a 50 capsule bottle)

Last summer, I was told they werent making it any more, but I got a Rx for what I thought was another med, it looked different, but it was still the same Midrin that I love. When I got a refill last week, it was back to the original color capsules. So, I guess they havent discontinued it. (I googled it. It was recalled last year because it apparently somehow accidentally got some of another medication in it. It was also recalled once last year because the pills were brittle and breaking)
Midrin has been around a long time. (probably more than 20yrs) I'd be willing to bet it's available in Australia, but maybe it's under another name?
