He also said that to him, it's more of a last resort, after all other things have been tried, INCLUDING back surgery. My take is that I agree with him. I don't want to mask pain, I want it to go away and have normal life back.
I told the PT this morning, that even though the MRI did not show it, I STILL feel that I have a fracture on my spine. We talked about how typical problems should go away over time, even up to a year. I reminded him that I've had zero relief and been having the chronic pain for 4 years now. He is very concerned about me, and threw out all the PT I've been doing, and has started me on a new program. He is also writing my Spine Doc a letter. The PT spent about 30 minutes today feeling my spine. He said that my spine is doing really weird stuff (my words) and is acting odd in the way it DOSE NOT respond on a certain disc.
Wonder what my Spine Doc will think of this....I don't see him again for another month or more, sooooo....stay tuned.

I agree that treating the problem of the pain is the best way to deal with it but this only works when you have a Dr willing to help you find the source of the pain.
I'm hoping the Tens Unit will be enough to help me so I don't need the pain pills, I take a lot of supplements every day that help me a lot and I don't want to add any RX's if I don't have to.
By the way everyone, I started this thread to find out what pain pills are out there that don't have Hydrocodone or Codeine in it and I still don't know of any.

I wanted to have something in mind before I see the new PCP.
