Default Hello CFIDS forum !

It's always exciting to be the first person to post in a forum

So, who else is here?

I have had chronic fatigue and a CFS diagnosis for a number of years, but it wasn't until recently that it got so bad that I was having to take a nap 4-6 times a day in addition to sleeping 9-11 hours at night.

My doctor prescribed Provigil, and it has worked very well. I still feel fatigued sometimes, but I no longer have to take naps all day long, and most importantly I am more able to get things done around the house and participate in my life instead of sleeping all the time.

On most days, I take 100mg when I wake up in the morning and 50mg at noon. Occasionally I take another 50mg between 2pm and 4pm if I feel like I need it.

For me, dividing the 200mg daily dose and taking smaller doses throughout the day helps to make it last longer and helps to keep me awake without being wired.

For me, taking 150mg or 200mg all at once in the morning was causing a burst of energy for the first half of the day and then it would wear off by 3pm and I would be tired and napping for the rest of the day.

I have had to do this sort of dose dividing with most of my medications due to my high metabolism, so it's not necessarily the Provigil that needs dividing, for me it's almost all of my meds.

Anyway, enough about me....

who else is here, and what are your experiences with CFS/CFIDS, and what are your experiences with treatments and coping strategies?

Liz
