It is springtime in North Carolina, but darn if the forecast is for snow on Monday! I'm talking in the southern portion of the state! This must be because we planted lots of new bushes and plants. Planting here is in the spring and fall for the most part. Summer is too hot and winter is too cold.

In the last three years we've waited for the last frost and then planted, only to be hit by out of season weather followed by more drought.

Well, this time we at least found a nursery that sells basic stuff and very cheap. I'd rather lose a cheap azalea than an expensive one!!!

We also have pretty much decided we will only plant (for the most part) native, hardy bushes and plants. I don't have the desire nor the ability to go out and cover everything (we have more than an acre).

I'm afraid it's survival of the fittest here
