Default Oklahoma City Bombing 13th Anniversary

Everyone please take a moment to remember April 19, 1995 at 9:02 a.m. when the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City was bombed.

It is hard to believe that it has been 13 years since 168 people, including 19 little children were killed. So many innocent people died that tragic day.

It was my 44th birthday and I was on the phone listening to a message from a friend wishing me a happy birthday when the blast occured. I remember it like it was yesterday and will never forget the sound or the feeling.

I was looking out my patio window on a beautiful clear day and the blast occured. It was like nothing I have ever heard before. The blast was so strong that I saw the patio door glass move. I lived about 7 miles northwest of the site and I thought a car had hit my apartment building.

I dressed immediately and went outside and everyone was outside looking around. We all knew something happened but everything looked fine.

Within minutes live coverage began and the horror was revealed. I could not stop watching the TV coverage and could not stop crying for the longest time. I did not lose a loved one in the bombing but it seemed everyone I knew had a loss.

Everyone for miles felt and heard the blast. It is a day of sadness that Oklahoma will never forget.
