Hello Porkette,
I've never had seizures before in my life until I started
taking anti-seizure medication for nerve pain deep inside
my nose where I had surgery done. I can't sleep because
of the shock-snaps I get in my head when I try to sleep.
Well, actually, the first seizure I ever got was in early 2007,
when my neurologist totally off-prescribed an anti-psychotic
medication called seroquel for sleep. I drank a glass of red
wine with it that night and went to sleep. Everything was ok.
Then, the next night I came home and felt a little tired so I
layed down to rest (took no meds) and fell asleep and then
had a horrible seizure.
I had been taking neurontin for nerve pain about a year or
so before that, but never had any seizures.
I immediately stopped taking the seroquel, but I have had
about 5 or 6 seizures over the past year now when using
neurontin and lyrica. The worst was on Lyrica. I took some
Lyrica (125 mg.) on the night of March 24th, 2008 and went
to sleep. Then, the next night I came home and felt a little
tired so I layed down to pray to God for help and to calm my
mind and body down and to make me a better person
(took no meds) but fell asleep instead and had a horrible
seizure and tore my rotator cuff off of my right shoulder
and damaged my left shoulder.
Last night I was a little tired and when I was sitting in my
recliner chair and was praying to God I felt an aura come
on, but I was able to fight it off and kept praying, this
time to Jesus Christ, instead of God, and I did'nt have a
seizure. Coincidince? ... I don't know.
I'm really in trouble now facing surgery and would be out
of work for who knows how long without any disability
insurance. I should have died when I had that seizure
that tore apart my shoulder, but I didn't.
