Wow...that really was interesting!
And looooong! LOL!
I had to skip over part of it in the middle due to its length.

Having worked in a classroom for part of my life, I can sympathize with teachers. I do feel some children will need medication. I do feel frustrated that often times the proper intervention is not provided. And some parents are willing to sit down and talk with teachers, try different things, listen to ideas, get expert opinion/ideas...and others are not.

One thing that really screamed loud at me was the notion that when a search was done for antidepressant experts, all of them were on the "payroll" of the drug companies! (Not that I didn't already think this).

I know from personal experience, that using medication in a minimal way COMBINED with natural products/supplements and/or a better way of thinking (therapy, etc.) has brought by far the best results (for me). I do recognize that each person is an individual and much of this requires a great deal of trial and error, observation, hard work and patience.

I feel great sadness, that I have one child with a chronic illness who hesitates or is unwilling at this time to try natural things to possibly allow her to reduce her rx medication and give her body a chance to heal/regulate itself.

On the other hand, I have another child, a spouse and a friend that were SO impressed with improvement I got from taking a certain supplement...the THREE of them ran out and bought some for themselves! (See vitamin discussions here at NeuroTalk!)

Many of the physicians I have encountered have only pushed medication and when things go wrong, they simply push more medication or additional medication.

Few mention things like exercise, vitamins, sunshine, drinking more water, eating healthy foods/avoiding processed ones and good mental health.

Of course, I think PART of the reason for this is because they have encountered a lot of resistence from patients. In addition, patients expect physicians to give them a pill/treatment for their ailment. Also, many patients have difficulty changing old behaviors. I do sometimes wonder if it is counterintuitive for them to do this. My GUT tells me that many, if not most of them, know that if patients were to simply follow good health practices or follow good health practices combined with a minimal amount of medication, things would be MUCH better for them and they would have to see the Dr. much less OFTEN.

This was great "food for thought" and I did enjoy watching it very much.
Thank you Mrs. D for this link!!!
