D3 is the best type of Vit D supplement to take. You CAN take up to 10,000 IU a day without adverse effects. Most recommend 2000-5000 iu daily though.

Thanks! I used that and other studies to back up my use of D3.
Working nights doesn't help me make it, and even if I get out in the sun one day a week, I still don't think I am getting enough steady state, so I am sticking with the D3 and doing the 2000 units, along with whatever I get in diet and with my Calcium w/D.
I'm not a big supplementer, but I do the D3, full spectrum fish oil, calc w/ D, a multivitamin and a baby aspirin daily. Each has their reason and place in my day and I am happy with it.
