One thing I realized after being dxs with P.D. is that I don't have time to waste on relationships that cause me stress. I left an 8 year relationship with an alcoholic 9 months after diagnoses. I am sure that living with someone who was constantly drinking made my symptoms far worse much sooner. It isn't easy at first to be alone but it certainly does allow you to spend your time looking after yourself. Stay close to family and friends and make the most of each day.
